Et si Ophélie n’était pas morte ? Quatre femmes habitées par une force commune, étranges créatures aux chevelures luisantes, déambulent dans les reflets d’une eau présente sur scène comme à l’écran. Ces flots troubles dédoublent leurs corps, les libèrent de la pesanteur et exercent sur elles une attirance destructrice... Partant de la figure shakespearienne d’Ophélie, morte noyée, la nouvelle création de Nicole Mossoux et Patrick Bonté happe les spectateurs et spectatrices. Tout y est insolite, captivant et résolument noir. Le duo d’artistes aime inventer des mondes inédits où le public se laisse volontiers glisser en eau profonde.

Ein gern gesehener Gast ist erneut zu Besuch im Escher Theater: Die belgische Compagnie Cie Mossoux-Bonté widmet sich in "Ophelia-s" einer von Shakespeares bekanntesten Frauenfiguren. In einer Inszenierung, die Tanz und Theater vermengt, spüren vier Tänzerinnen Ophelias Schicksal nach, die im Theaterstück Hamlet den Tod durch Ertrinken wählt. In einem fluiden Arrangement wird die Fiktion dieser Geschichte befragt: Wie kam diese schillernde, dunkle Figur der Weltliteratur um? In den spiegelnden Flächen des Wassers kann das Publikum auch die eigene Beziehung zu diesem Mythos erhaschen und hinterfragen.

What if Ophelia weren’t dead? Four women inhabited by a common strength, strange creatures with glistening hair, perambulate in the reflections of water on stage as well as on screen. Those muddled swells double their bodies, free them from gravity and exert over them a destructive attraction... Based on the Shakespearian figure of Ophelia, dead by drowning, Nicole Mossoux and Patrick Bonté’s new creation seizes the audience members. Everything there is unwonted, captivating, and resolutely black. The couple of artists likes inventing unseen worlds where the audience lets itself slide willingly into deep water.
